Good reasons why concrete tile
roofs need restoration

1. Erosion
Older tiles become eroded through years of exposure to the elements. This causes the original smooth tile to become very porous and rough.

2. Weight
Because old tiles are more porous, they absorb much more water and remain wet much longer. This causes a dampness problem in your home, and ceilings are more susceptible to mould. A wet tile absorbs 30 - 40% of its own weight in moisture, or approximately two more tons on your roof with the resulting weight increasing the risk of rafters sagging.

3. Unsightly Moss Growth
Because your roof is wetter, moss and lichen grow much more readily. The moss growth, as well as being unsightly, retains even more moisture, further aggravating the dampness problem. Moss growing between tiles often causes moisture o seep through.

4. Cracked Tiles
Unprotected tiles become brittle with age. Mortar in the ridges and hips deteriorates; cracked tiles allow water to get through. Broken tiles need replacing or repairing and ridges remortared.

5. Appearance
Apart from the erosion problem regaining an attractive appearance is a strong incentie to restore a roof, the sealing coats are available in a range of colours that dramatically enhance and add value to your home. See the before and after photos.
